So one practice Dane and I (Ben) were really in a songwriting slump, but we decided to tough it out and write a song, just to improve our songwriting in difficult circumstances. So we wrote The Only Thing Truer Than What You Know. The lyrics may seem harsh if you look at them, but really they aren't underneath. It is about a person who won't get over someone they wish they could date. Sometimes two people dating will just never work, and you have to get over it and move on. The most ridiculous thing is that a lot of the time this person has someone else who is wanting to go out with them, but because they don't measure up to the dream boyfriend's imaginary pedestal they will only turn that person down, and then complain about how lonely they are. Dane and me were basically pulling lyrics out of the air, and so it turned into a double meaning of how there is a relationship with our creator that people often ignore. I think the guitar for this song is my favorite thing I've written so far, it sounds really fun and upbeat. I hope you like it, because it is one of the songs that we are recording on the demo we're making this summer.
