Official Like A Phoenix HQ

Whoah I haven’t been here in forever. So here’s what’s new with all of us of clim. We’re no longer clim. WE’re now like a phoenix. The band has also had to take a break because Dane is off at Bible college and is not back enough to regularly practice but hopefully summer will allow us to get something done. Like record that song we promised so long ago to do. That’s all for now Peace

Its been a while now since we’ve posted anything, so we thought we owed it to everyone to put up a few new songs, so expect those in the very near future! Something else I’m pretty excited about is our band email set up. If anyone has any comments about our music, or just wants to talk to the band, feel free to email us and we will email you back! If you guys have the urge to email us and tell us you want to recieve updates on the band we will send you emails with news before we post it up on our websites! The email is original_clim@hotmail.com Just as an advance treat, the name of a song that we are recording right now is “One Day You’ll Look Back On This and Crash Into a Parked Car” That’ll be up on the purevolume and myspace sites early next week.

So one practice Dane and I (Ben) were really in a songwriting slump, but we decided to tough it out and write a song, just to improve our songwriting in difficult circumstances. So we wrote The Only Thing Truer Than What You Know. The lyrics may seem harsh if you look at them, but really they aren't underneath. It is about a person who won't get over someone they wish they could date. Sometimes two people dating will just never work, and you have to get over it and move on. The most ridiculous thing is that a lot of the time this person has someone else who is wanting to go out with them, but because they don't measure up to the dream boyfriend's imaginary pedestal they will only turn that person down, and then complain about how lonely they are. Dane and me were basically pulling lyrics out of the air, and so it turned into a double meaning of how there is a relationship with our creator that people often ignore. I think the guitar for this song is my favorite thing I've written so far, it sounds really fun and upbeat. I hope you like it, because it is one of the songs that we are recording on the demo we're making this summer.

Its almost YC! We have been trying so desperatley to get a demo together to hand out at this HUGE festival, and as a result of that, we have some new music on the purevolume and myspace websites. Make sure to check the song out!

So here is the news on the the Axe music battle of the bands, because both me and our drummer work, it was hard to get together, so we backed out at the last minute. But then, as fate would have it, the battle of the bands was postponed!!! We don't know when it is postponed for, but I think that since we've been given this second chance, we are going to be ready for it. Other great news is that Theo, Dane, and I were practicing and we wrote our first song with all three of us contributing something to the song. It was kind of cool, because all three of us have really different approaches and styles of songwriting, so I think the song turned out really well. It is called, "Bad Weather Helps Me Weather the Bad", and there is a demo of it on our purevolume site, and our My Space. I would say it is probably going to be our best song yet when we finish it all. Also, all of our websites are now updated, including our myspace and purevolume, with a brand new song!!!

So latest new for clim is that half of us made the grad show. Those of use able to make the audition will be performing at the grad fanshion show. We also have a change in the band members Dane Christenson will now only have lead vocals and no longer will be doing guitar, Ben Bouwsema will still do Lead guitar and background vocals, Theo Bousema is now on guitar instead of drums, Haley Christenson on Bass, and our newest addition Brennan Vermeer is on drums.

So it has come to my attention that the recordings of Naive posted on the Myspace and the Purevolume are hard to understand my singing. Now maybe I need to annunciate more, but I believe that it is mostly the recorder. So If anyone knows where we can either buy an inexpensive high quality recorder or when a inexpensive recording studio is in edmonton if you could let us know that would be greatly appreciated. So we've decided that we're gonna take the band up a notch. We're now gonna practice everyday that Ben doesn't work. this will really improve us as a band and allow us to master all of our songs. We would practice everyday but Ben has a job and he's liking having money or something. Anyways that brings you all up to date

So Clim has found a bassist. My (Dane's) sister. Although she is not yet good enough to play with us  with practice she will be. She will be practicing with us so she'll be ready to play with us sooner. ne ways  that's the latest happeneings with the band Later

Well Eric said hopefully Dane, Ben, or Theo would write about the musical end of it. Well this is Dane with some of the musical end of things. Yesterday we recorded Naive for the second time and got a couple of good takes. We should have it up on purevolume in a few days. That’s one more song to put on our CD, so we’re that much closer.
